The Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust
has supported Secure Scotland, financially and with advice since our inception, and currently provides the funding that will ensure our continued presence at Words and Action in Edinburgh. We welcome this message we received from JRCT.
“To all our partners and colleagues”, it reads
“We wanted to get in touch with you to offer our solidarity and support after the events of the past week.
Watching far right terror and racist violence on the streets is incredibly worrying and traumatic, but especially more so for those individuals and communities disproportionately affected and targeted by this violence and hate. We deplore racism, Islamophobia, and violence in all their forms and have been horrified by the widespread violence across the country.
We at JRCT stand with the communities of migrants, people of colour, and Muslim communities most affected by these acts of hate, and with everyone who opposes them. We will continue to put our efforts and resources toward building a society characterised by equality, justice, and peace.
If there is anything we can do to support you further at this time, let us know.
Best wishes,
Peace and Security team at JRCT”
Secure Scotland absolutely shares the perspective JRCT expresses so clearly, and are very grateful for the funding that enables us to offer a safe space for actions, administration exhibitions and meeting for individuals and groups that are particularly affected and for those who wish to learn from and support them.
